PARADISO 240 SC
(Containing Bifenazate)
Paradiso 240 SC is a contact acaricide effective on all spider mite stages with excellent residual activity for use on fruit, vegetables and ornamentals, due to its short harvest interval and potential for use in integrated pest management, IPM.
Introduction
PARADISO 240 SC is an acaricide containing the active ingredient bifenazate. It can be widely used in horticulture and in field crops. It is highly effective against motile stages of spider mites and also shows activity against eggs.
PARADISO 240 SC offers the following features:
- Excellent efficacy and long residual activity against spider mites
- Effective on eggs, larvae and adults of Tetranychus urticae and on all motile stages of other spider mite species
- Quick inhibitor of feeding
- Novel Chemistry and mode of action – excellent additional tool for resistance management
- Friendly to the environment and beneficial insects, fitting well into Integrated Pest Management programmes
- Good compatibility with other products
- Short pre-harvest interval
Formulation
PARADISO 240 SC is a suspension concentrate containing 240 g/litre bifenazate active ingredient
Spectrum of activity
PARADISO 240 SC has proved to be very effective for the control of spider mites, such as Tetranychus urticae, T.cinnibarinus, and rust mites (Phyllocoptruta spp.), on a wide range of horticultural crops, such as cut flowers, ornamentals, tomatoes, top fruit, citrus and strawberries. PARADISO 240 SCwith its novel mode of action should prove effective where other acaricides have been unsuccessful because of pest resistance.
PARADISO 240 SC controls both egg and motile stages of phytophagous mites, and can be used on a wide range of horticultural, fruit and ornamental crops. Good application techniques and correct spray volumes are needed to ensure thorough cover of upper and undersides of leaves, since the product is not systemic. PARADISO 240 SC is effective on the eggs, larvae andadult of Tetranychus urticae and mobile stage of Panonychus ulmi. These additional mite species are also sensitive: Bryobia, Eotetranychus and Oligonychus spp.
PARADISO 240 SC is a specific acaricide, and at recommended rates has generally low effect on insects, with little impact on bees, other beneficial insects, and predaceous mites. It is therefore highly compatible with integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
Mode of action
PARADISO 240 SC acaricide has predominantly contact action, with long residuality. It is not systemic or translaminar. Bifenazate acts by stimulating release of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), inhibiting nerve signal transmission to muscles. Susceptible mites become terminally paralysed and die.
